 Head ache and hangover
« Thread Started on Mar 6, 2007, 12:18am »

Finding it quite hard to manage up the steep stairwell, drunk'oll Michael felt as if he might fall down on his ass any minute; or which ever way was down or up....
Disabled vision caught site of the staircase, and he held onto Amberle's waist as if he let go he might fall into a pereliss darkness. Drunkun walk feebly came to the foot of the stairs, and his free hand freely searched for the railing. Where the hell was it?? Concentrating on the spot he thought the railing shoudl be, he saw he was about half a mile away from it. Shit... letting out a soft groan to himself, he latche donto the railing and began to take the first step, then the second... the whoel whiling wondering if he was even going up the sairs, instead of sideways or backwards. Icey blue eyes blinked, and he saw the second floor; finally.

He began to feel the even stride of Amberle, and realized the stairs were over. Wobbling as fast as possible to keep up with Amberle, he wobbled and tripped and slipped. Graceful eh?
A sudden wave of wamr heat blasted in Michaels face; must be inside. Tripping over the doorframe, his muscular hadn tightened intensely on Amberle's waist to keep himself up. Trying as best as he could to straighten up, he walked in. Finally letting go of Amberle, he kicked off his shoes. Standing in the middle of the living room, he surprpressed a large sigh and stifly suffle dover to the couch, felt around, and then - literally- collapsed on the couch. Soft cushion greeting his cold cheek, and he closed his blood shot eyes. Laying on his side, he shifted his feet and let out a sigh and looked up,
"....Amberle...?"
his words came out muffled, and in slowly. He wanted to make sure she was here; he didnt want her to leave... he wanted her to stay with him.

Michael was managing the stairs, although with difficulty. When they finally reached the top she fumbled in her pocket for the key he had given her and as she opened the door she turned to see that he had slipped, she walked over and gave him what help she could with her frail arms. The two of them hobbled inside and Michael let go of her to stagger to the couch. She pulled her sweatshirt off over head head and hung it on one of the hooks by the door, then plopped down to take her shoes off. Amberle had just taken her socks off when she heard Michael faintly call for her. She was there by his side in an instant, kneeling next to the couch so that her face was close to his. "I'm here." she whispered.

The alcohol was so strong on his breath that she could almost taste it. Oh Michael.. was all she could say. She crawled to the end of the couch where his feet were, and took his shoes and socks off of his feet for him. Then she stood up and went into the kitchen. She found a washcloth, rinsed it in cool water, and wrung it out. She walked back into the living room and put the cool washcloth on his forehead. She had done this for her parents what seemed like a million times. Amberle sat there stroking Michael's hair, looking into his eyes, hoping everything would turn out alright.

He felt horrible... in many ways then one. First off, he felt horrible; physically. His bones ached and his head hurt, and he couldnt concentrate on one thing for too long without the room begining to revolve around that one thing. And two, he felt horrible beacuse Amberle had to see him like this. This, was the worst state she could ever see him in, and she just happened to go to the bar and see him... god forbid he had one night out -first night in months- and she comes... he fucked everything.
And now, as he thought this... he couldnt stayed concentrated on the one thought for it began to slowly melt away, adn everytihng he mind thought or read was slipping away... leaving a blank, emtpy room in his alcohol flooded brain.
Then he felt the sudden urge to shower... to sit in the shoer and let the water beat on him for hours, letting it rinse away his drunken smell and achy body... rinse away everything. But things liek that never really worke,d even if woman swore that it did. It didnt. Or atleast not for this troubled little boy.

A soft, wet thing was layed upin his forehead, and he felt the heat being sucked from his body into what seme dot be a rag. Amberle's words almost made Michael get up and walk- try to walk- away. His eyes looked at her, ashamed, then quickly looked away. What has he gotten himself into? He asked himself that question so often, for so many different reasons.
Groaning, he slowly heaved himself to be in a sitting positon, and blinked his weary eyes. Licking his lips, he pushed himself to his feet, and stumbled forward a bit before balaxnign himself.
"I'm... I-I'm gonna hit the s-shower."
The words played perfecty in his mind... came out all screwed up and muffled outside. Another upset sigh came forth, and he began to trudge to the bathroom.
Opening the bathroom door, he walke din a closed it slowly behind ihm. Flcikgin the lock, he stripped down - tripping over his pants and almost falling on the counter- he finally wobbled into the bathtub and sank down in it, letting the hot water splatter all over his achy body.

Everything seemed to happen so quickly. One minute Michael was laying on the couch resting peacefully enough, and the next he was staggering towards the bathroom to take a shower. Amberle was getting the feeling that for some reason he just really didn't want her around him right now. She knew that she would have to respect that although she hated the fact that there was nothing she could do for him right now. She blinked, still surprised at the sudden stillness of the room. The only sound in the house was the steady pitter patter of the shower. She could picture Michael, hunched over in she shower, still in a drunken state. She shook her head to get that image out of her mind.

Amberle stood and slowly walked toward the sliding door that lead to the balcony outside. She opened the door just slightly, and slipped her slender form through the opening. The air was crisp and cool, and goosebumps immediately sprung up on her arms. She hopped up on the railing so that she could sit with her legs dangling over the edge. She knew how easily she could fall with her clumsiness. Right now, she didn't care. She looked up at the stars, curious as to how this day would end. The relationship between her and Michael was still young, and it could easily fade back into nothing. Amberle put her head in her hands, and shivers ran down her body as she began to cry.

Eyes closed, Michael sat n the bottom of the shower, and let the hot water cool hid nerves and body. Already his mind felt a bit mroe clear, and the nastly smell of thick alcohol was already coming off. Lifting a weak arm, he reached for a abr of soap and scrubbed himself down, feeling rather dirty. Maybe thats how being so drunk was... you just always felt dirty adn sticky, as if you wore the beer instead of drank it. And knwoing him, he'd pass out on his bed and never remember half of tonight, seeing as his mind didnt calculate much tonight.

After what seemed to be hours, (not really, only about an hour) Michael stumbled to stand on his feet and turned the water off. Muggy shower air was inhaled, and he stepped out into the cold bathroom air. Goosebumbps crawled up every part of his body, and -being him- he slipped on the tile and slid halfway across the bathroom before crashing into a wall. With a loud 'oomf!', he shook his wet hair, and reached for a towel. Drying himself off, he shook out his long black hair and wrapped the towl around his lower part of his body. Turnig slightly to look into the mirror, what he saw wasnt Michael Gonzaelz, but a boy who looked confused and sick. The normal bright peppy color in his eyes were gone, adn his normal pale skin was deathly white. Sick of seeing himself in such conditiosn, he scoughfed and looked away, bottom teeth toying with his lip rings. Sighing, he blinke dih syes and could actualy see, tohugh the headache still clung and everything wobbled once in awhile. Stepping into teh hallway, he dragged his feet to peer around the corner, and saw through the glass door Amberle. She sat on teh railing, her face cupped in her hands.
A suddne sting of anxiety and sorrow clung onto his chest like a heavy weight, and he gave her one last long look before truding to his room where he threw on some black sweat pants and fell right asleep on his bed; completley upside down. his feet rested on hsi head pillows, and he lay on his stomach, his head party hanigng off the end of the bed. A soft snore came from his mouth, and soon michael was asleep.

(oo-c sory it kinda came to a dead end... I rushed it cause i gots to go.)

It was six o'clock in the morning when she finally wandered back inside. The sun had just begun to peak over the horizon, and the tears on her cheeks were finally dry. She had spent a long time out on the balcony contemplating, crying, sifting through memories both comforting and painful. She had thought about life growing up. Her life had been difficult, she knew now that there were people that had it worse than her but as a child she hadn't understood that. She was born the child of teenage parents who had no idea what they were doing. When she was in elementary school if they had gotten angry with her they would scream and tell her that she was an 'accident' and that they had never wanted her. In the end they never married, but by the time she was in high school, she had decided it wouldn't make a difference. As a teenager she had thought of them as many things, stupid, uncaring, drunks, abusive, horrible, worthless, but now she only thought of them as one thing. Failures. They had failed with her, and with each other. They were still young compared to most parents of a nineteen year old girl, but they were dead to her.

School, which is sometimes a child's only escape was even worse than home for her. Just like she was now, in high school she had been short, skinny, and frail. She had gotten pushed around and made fun of a lot. She'd had a few 'friends' all of which had turned out not quite right. She had dated a few guys, but when she figured out that they had asked her out because they felt bad for her, or as a dare because of their friends she ended it. Eventually, she had given up on relationships entirely, and for a while almost forgot how to speak. The only time she spoke during her high school years was when she futilely tried to defend herself at home. Michael was the first person who seemed to have genuine interest in her.

The happiest memory she had was her fifth birthday when her parents still cared. They had bought her a cute little dress to wear to her party, and drove her up to her grandparents house in the country where the family always met. It was the only birthday she ever remembered celebrating or getting a gift. Her grandma gave her a gorgeous porcelain doll wearing a beautiful dress like the one she had worn on that day. As a child she had been fascinated with it. The doll was still in a box in a secret place in her room which was in the attic of her old house so that it would be one thing her parents would never take away from her. The reason that was her last happy memory was because the next day she had found her grandmother dead in her room at that old country house. She had suffered from a heart attack. At the age of five, it had been devastating for her. The day after her fifth birthday, had been the beginning of the end.

She had played through many different events in her head before going inside, trying to avoid the memory of what had happened tonight. She shuffled inside and out of the cold, sliding the door shut behind her. Her eyelids felt heavy. Her body was numb and for some reason, sore. She walked to Michael's door and pressed her ear to it. She could hear his heavy breathing coming from inside. Hopefully he would wake up in the morning and actually be able to hold a conversation. Suddenly she was very tired, she had been up for such a long time, she glanced down the hall to her room but decided that the living room was much closer. She shuffled over to the couch and lay down on the cushions. She didn't care that she was still wearing jeans and and tank top or that she didn't have a blanket. She just wanted to sleep, wake up tomorrow, and be able to make Michael happy again.

A soft hissing sound brought Michael to begin to look around. He wasn’t in his room anymore, but a dark, empty walled corridor. The hissing sound slowly died away, and Michael took a step forward, only to find that the room began to melt away into a black hole; then did he realize he was dreaming. Beginning to fall, he opened his mouth to scream but nothing came out, and he tried to swing his arms but he felt like the weight of water was holding back his every move. All he could do was fall, and keep falling into the unknown darkness without screaming or making any attempt to save himself. His darkening dream sent a horrible cling of panic at his chest, and the soft hissing sound came back, then died away... and came back.
Everything went dark, and what happened next Michael didn’t remember. But he peered through his eyes once more to see he was in another dream, with a totally different setting. He stood in a small, crowed area with people talking and bustling about. A loud blare of music sent pounding beats through his head, and the strong smell of alcohol filled his nose. Then did he realize he was in a bar... great. He began to walk forward only to bump into a boy rushing past, tripping over people with a bloody right arm. Michael looked up to him, and sudden shock overwhelmed him. The boy who had shoved past was him.... without thinking, he began to chase after himself, only to loose him in the crow. He kept running, but his legs felt stiff, and he couldn’t run as fast as usual... like something was pulling him back; that damn water feeling again. The boy shoving past everyone began to appear farther and farther away, and then everything began to fade into tunnel vision. The soft hiss roared up again, and died down.

Michael awoke from his sleep with a sudden jerk, and he through himself up into a sitting position, the loud sound of his alarm clock ringing, then fading away, then ringing again. His baby blue eyes blinked then opened all the way. Reaching over, he saw he had completely shifted the way he was sleeping. He had obviously kicked all the pillow offs the bed, for they lay sprawled on the nightstand and on the floor, and he kicked the sheets out from the mattress, and lay sideways on the bed, his feet by the alarm clock. With a soft sigh, he heaved himself to crawl across the queen mattress and pull the plug of the alarm.
'Annoying ass thing'
his lazy thoughts read to itself, and he fell on his stomach on the bed. Looking up, he saw the clock read 8:47. Sigh coming forth form his lips, he twisted around and landed on the floor, shuffling lazily to his bathroom which connected to his room. Looking in the mirror, he yawned, and itched his head. Stopping everything he was doing, he blinked at himself and began to make weird movements with his finger. YES! He could function his body properly now! It hit him then.. last night, Amberle, drunk...
Flying out of the bathroom, he swung the door open and jogged into the living room, and looked over at the couch. Amberle lay sprawled out, nice and asleep. Anxiety pinched his chest like a heavy weight, and his breathing became uneven as he carefully turned and walked to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, the cold air that greeted his bare chest and feet made him grab a Pepsi quickly, and close it behind him as he walked to the counter and leaned on it, taking a sip of his Pepsi; all the while looking at Amberle with soft eyes. Contemplating what might happen when she wakes up.

For the past two hours Amberle had been fighting the fact that she was still wide awake. She would wake up, roll over into another comfortable position, sleep for a while, and wake up once again. She had gotten basically no sleep and didn't want to get out of bed yet, well she was sleeping on the couch actually. She was finally coming to the realization that there was no point in her trying to sleep any longer because no matter how hard she tried she wasn't going to get any rest. She finally groggily opened her eyes and sat up. Ugh... she though. She felt awful, she was cold from having slept without a blanket, and jeans weren't the most comfortable thing to sleep in. There were marks embedded in her skin where they had pushed into it while she was sleeping.

Slowly she sat up and looked around. Her hair was a mess, and there were still tear stains on her cheeks. She almost hoped that Michael was still asleep so that he wouldn't see her looking awful like this. She stood up stretching and froze as she saw him. Michael had taken her completely by surprise. He was leaning on the counter in the kitchen. He looked sober now, but she knew that looks could be deceiving. She slowly walked into the kitchen, unsure of what would happen now. She kept her eyes on him as she entered the kitchen and sat down at his feet, leaning on the cupboards opposite to him.
"Are you mad at me?"
she whispered softly. After all, she shouldn't have followed him, it was none of her business. She felt rude and inconsiderate for doing so. It was her fault she had seen him that way.

The soft bustle of the couch squeaking and soft patter of moving feet gave Michael the hint Amberle had woken up. His eyes had been off her for a moment to look at his feet as he drank his Pepsi, but his attention was peeled back to Amberle as she entered the kitchen, a somewhat scared look on her facials. Icy blue orbs followed her own as she sank to the floor, her back leaning against the cupboards as she looked up to him, and asked him if he was mad in a soft whisper. Lifting his drink to his lips, he took another sip before putting the can on the counter beside him, and he folded his arms across his chest. His face was not stern nor fearful, or happy or sad. It was simply blank, emotionless. He looked past her and a face of concentration took over once more. He wasn’t mad at her, he was just… mad… at… himself? He felt tired and confused, and didn’t exactly know how to answer.
Finally, licking his lips, he bit on his bottom lip and his tongue played with the ring on the inside of his mouth. His lips pressed tightly together, he sighed and looked back down at Amberle. His eyes burned into hers, and he opened his mouth to speak gently and softly,

No Amberle, I am not mad at you. I am mad at myself, for promising me that I will not get knocked up like that ever again, and that going out to a bar was a time to just relax and have a beer or two. But I went over board, and just because god hates me… you showed up, to see me at my worst. I was an idiot, a completely, irresponsible jackass. So no, I am not mad at you… but myself.”

Al the while he was speaking, he crossed his left foot over his right one and tightened his arms across his chest, his voice holding a steady, calm, and soft voice. He felt like he might explode though, in a fit of rage against himself. But for Amberle’s sake, he mentally bat himself up instead of going out and finding some black gang boy to beat him up. Licking his lips once again, he took his coke and sipped it, keeping his blue gaze locked on Amberle’s.

Amberle could hardly stand it. Michael was just too blank, devoid of all emotion. Surely she could tolerate him having a few beers every here and there? She had seen her parents like that all the time, but they hadn't mattered to her, and Michael did. He mattered more than anything. She didn't know what she would do without him. Although he claimed he was mad at 'himself' she still thought that at least part of this whole mess was her fault. She shouldn't have followed him, and since she had she should have made sure that he hadn't seen her. Her lower lip quivered, and she sucked in her breath, struggling hard not to cry again because she didn't want to make things worse than they already were. She stood up, facing him, still somewhat afraid. How could they resolve this? What could possibly be said that would change anything? Michael could say that he wouldn't do it again but she would never ask that of him, and apparently that promise had already been broken once.

She did the only thing she could do at this point. She wrapped her arms around his familiar frame once more, and drew him into a hug. She whispered softly in his ear "What can I do to make you happy again?" She closed her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder. This was where she wanted to be, forever in his arms. Without him she felt broken. He was the first person in the world who had looked at her as if she were something special. She didn't want to lose him ever, because he truly cared.

Drowsy eyes watched as Amberle stood up, facing him with a sad expression acorss his face. His stubborn look burned into her, and he took a small sip of his coke before setting it on the counter once more. Orbs never leaving her own, he did not blink his wondeful blue eyes; but made the small movement of folding his arms across his bare chest once more. With a small sigh, his orbs drifted away from Amberle and looked to the side, glazng out as he zoned out of everything else around him. A serious, expressionless face came back, and he stood absolutley still. He thought of what might happen, and how how could get past this. This was just Michaels kind of luck... falling in love with a girl nothing like him, and her seeing him all drunkin in a bar... wonderful. He felt so useless; so irratibley irresponsible. He wondered how long this relationship would last, and who will snap first and end it. Horrible things liek that swam through his grogged mind, and he couldnt help it... he thought the worst at worse times.

Snappng bakc into reality, he felt the small, lithe frame of Amberle pressing agsint him in a hug, and he unfolded his arms to wrap around her small back. His left hand played lightly with the end of her hair, and he put his cheek on the top of her head. He couldnt... he wouldnt... ever end what he has with Amberle, she ment so much to him, and she is the first to not up and leave when he was drunk; but to stay by his side and help him. how could he think of leaving? 'Starting over' as he ahd done so many times... he just wanted to start to settle down, and maybe Amberle was the one... the one he wanted to settle down with and become a family... but then again, settlign down meant.... this is ridiculous. Michael took in a deep breath and his head automaticly shook slightly, as if disaproving of his own thoughts.
Closing his blue eyes, he let Amberles soft hair press to his cheek, and her wonderful scent be inhaled. He heard her question, but didnt answer, he only held her tight against him, knowing his actions were his answer. He wanted to keep her close to him, forever.

(ooc- a lot of things are probably spelt wrong and all mixed up, sorry.. too lazy to do spell check.)

The problem had been resolved....for now. The two of them were still too young to want to sit down and talk things out rationally like adults who so calledly 'discuss their problems openly.' At their current age that stuff was still bullshit. She could hear the beating of Michael's heart as it softly pumped blood to his body. She sighed deeply as she listened, everything about Michael was so wonderful. Well, except for last night, but at the moment she was already over that. Quick forgiveness was always in her nature. With her background, it had been needed. She lifted her head away from his chest and looked up at him, placing her hand on his cheek. Things were beginning to go back to the way they had been before. Same old Michael, same old Amberle. Even though they still really hadn't known each other very long. Amberle reached up and put her index finger on the tip of Michael's nose. "Mine." she said. She still acted like a child sometimes because she had never been treated or accepted as one, and she still had a child's mentality on some levels.

She smiled and turned her head away from Michael's to glance outside for a moment. The sun was just beginning to rise. She was surprised at how awake she was considering the lack of sleep she had gotten throughout the night. She looked back up at Michael and hugged him tighter. She was still afraid, part of her was always afraid. The fear of being hurt again always seemed to linger close by whispering warnings in her mind. It was that voice that had made her decide a while back that relationships were pointless and friends couldn't do anything to help you. Somehow, Michael had been an exception, but at times, the voice of warning wouldn't shut the hell up, and right now it sounded satisfied and was whispering He's going to hurt you.
