Be My Escape [Idenity] « Thread Started on May 9, 2007, 7:52pm »
Okay, so that movie had been stupid beyond reason. Same old predictable storyline and fake looking actors. Well, maybe she was over exaggerating just a little bit, but she wasn’t in a good mood whatsoever. A couple acquaintances had invited her to come to the movies, so Mae had thought why the hell not. It wasn’t as if she had anything better to do. Apparently everyone just liked to abandon her because just about halfway through the movie the other people she was with told her that they were ‘going to the bathroom’ and then they never came back. Annoying. Immature. People just got on her nerves, and the fact that they had driven, and now she had to walk home, didn’t help. The only reason she had stayed for the rest of the movie was because she was determined to get her moneys worth, but the movie had been so dumb it didn’t even matter. Sighing as she walked out of the theatre, she deposited her empty coke in a trashcan and headed toward the doors. It looked warm outside, so she stopped for a moment to pull her jacket off, leaving her wearing skinny jeans, converse, and a New Found Glory band tee-shirt. Her Carrying the jacket she pushed one of the doors open. The brightness of the sun stung her eyes that had become so accustomed to the darkness. As she walked outside she had to squint to try to see. Heading in the direction of the road that she needed to take to get to her apartment, she ran smack into what felt like a brick wall. Blinking, she realized that it wasn’t a wall, but a person. Jumping backwards she exclaimed “Sorry!” not really looking at who she had hit, and then turned away from the person to continue on.

James looked up when he seem to have knocked into somebody. It wasn't a big someone but a light and small someone. He heard a soft 'sorry' as the person continued on their way. It was a feminine voice and that voice has a familiar tone, like he had heard the voice before somewhere recently atleast. Turning around he knew why he recognized the voice, because he had met this girl before. They had a dance together and they had talked about some serious issues that seemed to be on her mind at the time.
A smile spread across his face, he was glade to see her around town. He shook his head, coming back to the present and realized that she was already moving towards the streets. James ran to catch up with her and called her name. "Mae....Mae....hey wait up!" Her jogged to catch up with her, and gave her a nice smile. "Hey Mae, its nice to see you again. I'm sorry I didn't give you a way of getting in touch with me before. So how has it been?"
Smart James, lets start off with 20 questions then how about we move onto other personal matters that she wants kept secret. He chastised himself for being to forward, that was one of his faults and got him into more trouble than he would like. Focusing back on Mae, she seemed a little annoyed but also sad. It was starting to seem like this girl needed some better friends and some laughter in her life. However not being the pushy type he would just let her be with her emotions and help when she needed it.

Mae spun around as she heard her name called. Dark brown hair fanned out behind her, and grey eyes shone bright with curiosity. Once she had turned around, she found that she had come face to face with James. Despite all of the bull shit that had just happened, seeing him brought a smile to her face and more of a perk to her eyes. She hadn’t seen him for a couple weeks now, and she hadn’t expected to run into him quite so soon.
“Its okay.” she said smiling. I didn’t really give you a chance to give me your number or anything. I’ve been pretty good. I was just getting ready to walk home. She stopped for a moment to think about how long it would take her to actually walk all that way home. It was only about a ten minute drive…which meant around a two hour walk. Great. She couldn’t’ tell him that though… It’s only about umm a thirty minute walk from here. she fibbed. Although now she was kicking herself for saying it because if James ever ended up coming over, he would know for sure that she had been lying.
Mae tried to give him a reassuring smile but she was pretty sure it just came off as fake. James had been standing here for a fair amount of time now. She glanced about, trying to figure out if he was with anyone, a pretty girl perhaps? She didn’t want to be keeping him. If he stood here much longer, he would probably be late for whatever movie he was seeing.
“Are you meeting someone? she asked him curiously. She wasn’t trying to be pushy, she just didn’t know why someone would want to go to the movies alone, and there was no way that James couldn’t get a date. Of course, he might be thinking the same thing about her, she hadn’t walked out with anyone so she could see how she really didn’t have a right to be questioning him.

He laughed a little at the thought of him being with someone. James had never dated much so thats what had been funny to him. He listened to her talk about how she was on her way home. He looked down the street eyeing the road. Surely Mae wasn't going to walk home alone, but she had said it was only about a thirty minute walk. Well he had let this butterfly escape before, so this time he was going to treat her.
"No, I'm not with anyone. I just thought I might go see what they had playing." He jestured towards the billboard with all of the movie listings. Not one of them sounded of much interest. "Hey instead of walking home by yourself how about I treat you to a nice meal. You look like you could deal with some company."
He watched the crowd grow and then lessen around them. The weekends were usually movie theaters busiest time. James hoped the crowd wouldn't end up swallowing them. Cause then it would just seem a little uncomfortable with so many people surrounding the two. He pointed his hand down the road where there were some nice little restraunts. It seemed like the movie theater was surrounded by small business. They could walk the short distance and then maybe when they were done, instead of her walking home he could give her a lift.
"We could try one of those restraunts down the street, I've heard theres some pretty good food. Then afterwards I could give you a lift home so you wouldn't have to walk."
James hoped it sounded like a nice jesture and not a stalker type move. Sometimes he was overly nice and it made people a little sketchy of him. Also it would be nice to spend some good time with Mae without the hassels of the club scene.

Mae cocked an eyebrow at his laughter because she didn’t quite see why he was laughing but quickly changed her expression to that of a smile. She really was glad to see him again, he was one of the few people she had met who seemed to act like a true friend. Him and Brook, they were sincere people. She glanced up at the movie listings with him. None of them looked exciting, and the one that she had seen had sucked, although it might have partially been because of her sour mood due to undependable people. She listened to James’s voice as he spoke. He always seemed so happy and carefree. She wished she could have that sort of outlook on the world. Usually she wouldn’t let people pay for her, she would feel guilty about it, to her it was as if the money was wasted if spent on her, but she didn’t want to put James down, he was a sweetheart. People were starting to crowd about them, but she looked up with him with those big grey eyes and smiled.
“I would like that.”
Now she knew she was definitely going to regret having lied about the whole thirty minute walk thing. It definitely would take about two hours to walk home, and that would become quite obvious if James insisted upon taking her home. Biting her lip, she stood in thought. She would have to tell him the truth and hope that he didn’t think badly of her for fibbing a little bit. She just didn’t want it to seem all that bad. Deciding that she would tell him over their meal she looked back up at him again. She couldn’t help but laugh inwardly realizing she had to tilt her head almost straight up, every time she wanted to look at him in the eye, and she couldn’t help but wish that she could be maybe just a little bit taller.
“Where would you like to go?” she asked him.
She really hoped that he would have a preference because she hated being decisive.

He was glad that she decided to come with him to get something to eat. James was thinking of steaks but thought better of it, steaks would be to formal and Mae didn't seem to be the steak type. Thinking over it again maybe that little italian restraunt would be more fitting. Even though it was a little to intamite, it was a nice little place with good food. James hoped she would like his decision on where they went.
"Well I saw this quant little Italian restraunt, looked like they had good food. Also its just a block down the road."
He gave her a smile and waited to see if she would like to go there or if she had another restraunt in mind.

Mae was relieved to hear his decision, Italian food was her absolute favorite. She had only been hoping that he wouldn’t choose the seafood restaurant that she could see over in the area he had motioned towards. She didn’t eat any seafood whatsoever. Usually she wasn’t a picky eater, but when it came to fish, shrimp and other stuff, she didn’t like the taste, and it was not healthy anyways.
“Italian food is my favorite!” she said beaming.
She was so glad that she hadn’t ended up having to walk home alone. Being with James was so much better, he always seemed to put her in a good mood. Right now she felt like skipping over to the restaurant because she was in such a damn good mood. The crowd was starting to thicken, so she took James’s hand, and started to walk toward the Italian place with him.

James was glad he had choosen correctly and smiled when Mae took his hand. He quickly followed her out of the crowd as they moved to the restraunt. As they came to the street he stopped them from continuing until traffic cleared. Once it was safe he moved out into the street still holding Mae's hand as they crossed the road.
They walked a few more yard until the door of the restraunt came into view. He went up the steps and held the door politely open for her, following in after her. The hostess came up and asked how many then procceeded to show thme their seats. It was a nice booth, that was nicely comfortable. They were sectioned off in a way so that each table would have some privacy.

Once they reached the street, James held her back to keep her safe from the cars that were roaring past. Even though the speed limit was only thirty-five, it seemed like everyone was going forty-five or fifty. She hadn’t expected him to hold her hand for this long. Originally she had just grabbed to keep him with her as they moved through the weekend movie crowd, but he had wanted to hold on longer, and she didn’t mind at all. She actually liked holding his hand, something about it made her feel secure. Once the cars finally got a red light, they walked across the street and finally reached the Italian restaurant he had decided to take her to. Small bells jingled as they walked through the door. It wasn’t very busy for a weekend, which was good, because that meant there wouldn’t be a wait. The hostess showed them directly to a cute little booth, all of them were set up in such a way that they were somewhat secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Taking her seat, Mae scooted in so that she sat somewhat more in the middle of the seat, and watched as James sat across from her. A waitress brought them some menus and complementary water. This place was a bit nicer than she expected. And as she opened up the menu she definitely took price into account with her order.
The waitress finally came back, she was a pretty little blonde girl who seemed to be eyeing James, and Mae couldn’t help but giggle. When the girl asked for their orders, Mae ordered the chicken fettuccini, and glanced over at James, waiting for him to announce what he would be having.

As they were seated and given menu's he looked up at Mae. The lighting in her was nice. He had held Mae's hand all the way here without even releazing it. James blushed a little at the thought. Looking back down at the menu he saw the many delicious entree's. This was going to be difficult to decide, he liked so many different things about Italian cooking.
"Don't worry about the prices, Ok. This one is on me."
He hoped this wasn't seeming like a date, of course he was liking her. However he didn't want to force her into anything especially after her last relationship. Friendships were much easier to handle then relationships after a nasty breakup.

Mae glanced up at James as he spoke to her, telling her not to worry about the prices. She laughed inwardly, he was such a caring person, but she could be too, which was why she would ignore that remark, and still glance down at the price listed before she decided what to have. Once she had decided on the chicken fettuccini, and had told the waitress, James still seemed to be having trouble deciding. So the waitress said she would come back in another five minutes or so.
She really liked the restaurant, the lighting that streamed in through the lightly curtained windows was nice, and the decorative Italian memorabilia that decorated the walls all looked really neat too. She glanced over at James. “I think the waitress likes you.” She said giggling. It then dawned on her that she was still going to have to admit having told him a little white lie. She hated getting caught fibbing, even if it really wasn’t a big deal. Mae simply had a lot of trouble admitting her faults, which probably wasn’t a good thing. Biting her lip, she avoided James’s eyes. Last time he had been able to tell so easily that something was wrong, she didn’t want him to figure it out this time, even though he was so damn good at reading her like a book. He was definitely an observant one.

The waitress had come by and had taken Mae's order, but he was having difficulties. Jame finally decided which one he would have. Thats when he realized just what she had said and it made him blushed. He wasn't looking for a relationship at the moment, so this embaressed him a little.
The waitress came back and he ordered the Lasagna with marina and fetticine sauce. He loved the two sauces mixed. Once the waitress was gone he looked up at Mae, noticing how wonderful she looked in the lighting of the restraunts.
"How's it been since the last time we met?"
The waitress came again and gave them some bread. She smiled then walked away. James had barely even noticed she had stopped by, but the warm fresh bread kind of gave her pressance away.

Mae looked up at him as he asked her a question. Glad that he hadn’t noticed her contemplating mood. Now, how to answer this without sounding completely bitchy…oh well. Life had been sucky, so she might as well just answer truthfully. “Well, its been ok…up until the point where I got ditched and stranded at the theatre. And truthfully, my apartment is about two hours away walking distance.” She said biting her lip. So now he knew she had lied. She was only lucky that James had just so happened to be there, or there might have been some trouble on her way home. There was no telling what could happen on the streets of this metropolis. She took one of the pieces of bread, buttered it lightly, and then began to munch on it thoughtfully, imagining what might have happened had James not have been there, and she was wondering how he might respond to the tad bit of a truth stretch.

He smiled when she told him all that had been happening, his face slightly saddening when he heard about her being ditched and then her walk home was actually 2 hours. James cheered up again not wanting her to see him looking sad. He nodded in agreement at her miss fortune.
"It seems like you need some better friends."
Finally after a few minutes the waitress came up with their food and asked if they needed anything else. She then continued on her merry little way. He watched as Mae ate a piece of bread and looked down at the fresh hot plate of food. Wow it all looked amazing.
